Make Your Own Artificial Baits!
Believe it or not this was indeed a real fishing lure. You baited the center, set it and a fish came nibbling, then SRPONG! It grabbed the fish from all sides kinda like a bear trap. And I read that some of these were made big enuff to catch a bear! This is just a couple of weird examples of fishing baits made by people in the past. I'm sure there have been stranger ones made but the important thing to remember is they caught fish. And I'm sure that the people who made them were proud as hell the first time they brought a fish in on a lure they created. I've made quite a few over the years myself. Everything from plastic worms I colored and baked in molds when I was a teenager to carving my own lures out of balsa wood and pine, to making my own spinnerbaits and buzzbaits that were as good as anything you can get at Wally World!
Now I have blogged a little about making some quick offshore baits but then I realized that there was a world of info out there for both the novice and the pro wanting to try their hand at doing it own their own like me. So I'm gonna dedicate this page with providing you information for it. Everything from buying your own parts and making professional rigs and baits to carving and molding your own jigs. I'm gonna start off with some info I have gotten to make my own baits professionally and hope add more as time goes on to privide fisherman info on whatever they need. I would also like to point out that a lot of folks who have tried this have discovered a very enjoyable new hobby as well! Have fun and good fishing to all.
